We made a small survey and posted it on a wellington facebook page to get some primary research concerning apartment living and how apartment dwellers feel it affects them physically and mentally.

Feedback:

Q1: Do you think living in an apartment has an affect on your physical health. If yes, what?

Not for me as I went the gym and it was still a slot of walking around to get places

NO!!! I love it <3

yes, i get ill way more

Yes sometimes feel a bit claustrophobic

Yes not getting fresh air

Yes, sicknesses fester and brew. Shared facilities are never good either.

yes- harder to get out to run/exercise

not sure

yes because of my mental health

Don’t think so, I like living in an appartment, I have a balcony and a great view

Yes so much less time spent outdoors/ outside

yes depression from being in a windowless room

yes, there are so many people around it can give you anxiety

yes amount of sunlight, away from greenery

Yes, I feel more relaxed and secure and safe.

A little bit , definetly if you don’t get outside a lot

I feel as if the 'un-uniqueness' of the apartment depersonalises the space and makes me feel less fulfilled/happy despite filling the space with personal items. They don't feel so much like a home to me.

yes, more anxious over where i can live/where i can afford

Living in an apartment in the city can be both lonely And over stimulating

Yessss felt very congested and trapped. Every time you get out the city it is such a breath of fresh air.

Yes in some cases because you don't have many chances to socialize within a huge building.

Yes- lack of natural light/ sunshine effects mood especially in winter.
